On March 23, 2026 Petrozavodsk State Glazunov Conservatoire held an online presentation for applicants from the People’s Republic of China with the support of one of the leading companies specializing in arranging overseas education Jin Jilie.
The event included a presentation about the Conservatoire, which was attended by over 500 young musicians from 34 provinces across China.
Participation of the Conservatoire in international events in Beijing, organized by Jin Jilie in 2024 and 2025 for top music universities from Russia and Belarus, has become an important and now traditional initiative.
Olga Shmakova, Vice-Rector responsible for study programs, presented the Conservatoire’s rich history, academic traditions and modern areas of activity. She highlighted the key achievements of both teachers and students in concert performance and research. A special focus was given to the Conservatoire’s infrastructure, as well as the learning and living conditions for students.
Special attention was paid to the Conservatoire’s long-standing experience in training students from China. The Conservatoire is proud of its Chinese graduates and keeps close connections with them.
A special highlight of the event was the participation of the current Chinese students — Ge Yitong, Gu Weijia, Xu Enсi, and Peng Haoran. They shared their personal experience of studying and living in Russia and answered questions from Chinese applicants. Most students, after acquiring their first higher education degree (bachelor’s or specialist), continue their studies at advanced levels (master’s, postgraduate performance programs or PhD programs).
At the end of the presentation, Olga Shmakova emphasized that the Conservatoire’s administration and teaching staff provide supportive environment for students from China, offering every opportunity for their creative and professional development. Olga Shmakova invited the audience to apply to the Conservatoire and take part in the 2026 admission campaign.
