Shanghai-Petrozavodsk "1+4"

Shanghai-Petrozavodsk Сoncert on April 18, 2013 accomplished the five-year cooperation between Shanghai Normal University and the Petrozavodsk State Glazunov Conservatory (the Academy). The cooperation started in 2009 with signing the agreement on the joint educational program in music "2+3". As per the program 22 students from Shanghai were trained in vocal, piano, brass and folk instruments at the Petrozavodsk Conservatory during three years and had their final examinations in April, 2013.  Vice Dean of the Shanghai Normal University Music College, associate professor Hong Jiale and Director of International Communication Center professor Feng Jiqing attended the examination and together with consul Hu Bin  (visa services) and consul Jang Junlian (education) from China Consulate-General in Saint Petersburg became honored guests at the concert devoted to Shanghai-Petrozavodsk cooperation.  Professor  Wu Yi (piano) and professor Zhou Jinhua (tenor) took part in the concert along with the Petrozavodsk Conservatory Symphony Orchestra (conductor Vladimir Stachinsky), Orchestra of Russian Folk Instruments (conductor Alexey Chugaev), Chinese and Russian conservatory students. To view pictures from the concert please click here

The last visit of the conservatory's senior management to Shanghai in January 2012 resulted in signing the agreement on the Joint Educational Program in Music "1+4" for the next 5 years. As per the new agreement  students from Shanghai will take courses at both Shahghai Normal Universisity and Petrozavodsk State Glazunov Conservatory with the goal of obtaining degrees from both the institutions. Participants of this program will study for five years: the first year at the Music College of Shanghai Normal University, and for the next four years at Petrozavodsk Conservatory. With the joint music education in China and Russia, the students are expected to be competitive in the market of music talents and be needed as professional musicians internationally.
