The first meeting between the Student council and first-year and preparatory course international students was held at the Petrozavodsk Glazunov State Conservatoire. The event became a new step in the process of adaptation and integration of students from abroad into the academic and cultural life of the Conservatoire, as well as the city of Petrozavodsk and the Republic of Karelia. It also contributed to the improving of the Russian language skills and successful communication between international and Russian students.

The Chairperson of the Student Council, Natalia Mikhailishina, presented the council's areas of activity and explained how the organization can be useful and interesting to the new students of the Conservatoire. She emphasized that the student council is always open to new ideas and invited students to propose their own initiatives to make student life more interesting, diversify leisure activities, and foster communication.

To introduce the history and infrastructure of the conservatory, a quiz for first-year students will be organized next week.

An important part of the meeting was the speech by Natalia Lavrushina, head of the Karelian Public Diplomacy Development Fund. She presented the students with the "Dialogues of Cultures — Bridges of Friendship" project, implemented with the participation of the conservatory and supported by the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives. The participants were shown the documentary film "Musical Traditions of Karelia. The Many-Faced Present" (authors A. Voytovich and G. Rants), created as part of the project.

The film tells the story of how the musical heritage of the peoples of Karelia lives and develops. It introduces the origins of local folklore, demonstrates the sound of rare folk instruments, and shows how authentic melodies gain new life in contemporary works. The film also tells about the artisans through whom ancient musical genres remain an important part of the region's culture. The film is intended to emphasize the importance of strengthening intercultural ties and mutual understanding between peoples, and fostering a respectful attitude towards the cultural heritage of every ethnic group.

The "Dialogues of Cultures — Bridges of Friendship" project is aimed at introducing music students from Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan to the cultures and traditions of partner countries, as well as developing interethnic cooperation in the academic environment. Students from the People's Republic of China and Vietnam are also involved in the project.
