On January 27, 2023 a Memorandum of Agreement between Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory and the Petrozavodsk Conservatoire was signed. Rectors of the music higher education institutions Arman Zhudebayev and Aleksei Kubyshkin agreed to develop understanding between Kazakhstan and Russia through academic mobility and scientific research projects, joint concerts and master-classes.
Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory was founded in 1944 during the World War II and training of staff was conducted not only in musical specialties, but also in the theatre direction. In 1945 the name of Kazakh national composer of the 19th century, the founder of traditional dombyra school Kurmangazy Sagyrbayev was given to the conservatory. Kurmangazy Conservatory has been the member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires since 2017.
There are 4 faculties at Kurmangazy Conservatory: Faculty of Musicology, Art-management and social-humanitarian disciplines, Faculty of Instrumental Arts, Faculty of Vocal Arts, Conducting and Music Education, Faculty of Traditional Music. In 2019 Kurmangazy Conservatory passed the international accreditation of the agency Music Quality Enhancement - MusiQuE (Brussels, Belgium) on the programs of Bachelor's Degree , Master's Degree and Doctoral Programs.
