The VI International Music Festival «The Onega Musical Winter-2014» is an ongoing artistic event that was created at the initiative of the staff members and the on-stage performance group of the Petrozavodsk State Glazunov Conservatory.
Held once every two years, this outstanding musical holiday gathers not only a great number of active participants and performers, but a wide audience as well.
More than 2000 young musicians from more than 20 countries took place in the festival “Onega Musical Winter” from the day of its creation in 2000. The festival encouraged the artistic growth of each and every participant - on-stage performance groups and soloists.
In 2014 the VI International Music Festival «The Onega Musical Winter» is dedicated to the graduates of the conservatory. Over the years of its existence the conservatory qualified over 4000 specialists that now work in various cities of Russia and abroad. Among the graduates of the conservatory there are many Honoured artists and art workers. About 500 graduates work in Karelia, thus forming the personnel basis of musical institutions and musical ensembles of the republic.
The festival in 2014 consists of a series of concerts and lasts for two months. A great variety of genres and musical styles will be presented to the audience: classical, jazz and ethnic music that will be performed by soloists, chamber ensembles, orchestras and the choir. Most of the performers are graduates of the Petrozavodsk State Glazunov Conservatory who engaged themselves with music and musical performance.
