Silver Sounds 2023 International Contest

More than 300 young musicians have come to Petrozavodsk to take part in the 10th International "Silver Sounds" Contest for Woodwinds, Brass and Percussion. Up to 30 % of participants are flute players, the rest represent all the other brass and woodwind instruments of the orchestra. The contest will be held from 25 to 28 of March. Laureates of the “Silver Sounds” Contest will perform with the symphony orchestra of the Karelian State Philharmonic at the Concert Hall of the Petrozavodsk State Glazunov Conservatoire on March 28, 2023. The Grand Finale concert will be live recorded for official publication on the “Silver Sounds” Contest webpage.

The Jury of the “Silver Sounds” Contest is comprised of the professors of the Petrozavodsk State Glazunov Conservatoire as well as prominent professors from the other conservatories in Russia and abroad such as Igor Yakovlev, Professor of Trombone at Saint Petersburg Conservatory named after N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov, Oleg Sytianko, Professor of Flute at Turku University of Applied Sciences (Finland), Oleg Khudyakov, Professor of Flute at Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, Andrei Kazakov, Professor of Clarinet at Saint Petersburg Conservatory named after N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov, Boris Taburetkin, Professor of Trumpet at Saint Petersburg Conservatory named after N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov, Yuri Ivanov, Professor of Trombone at Ural State Conservatoire named after M. Mussorgsky. All invited jury members along with leading professors of the Petrozavodsk State Glazunov Conservatoire will deliver master classes to the participants of the “Silver Sounds” Contest.

The Artistic Director of the “Silver Sounds” Contest is Roman Vorobyev, Professor of Clarinet at the Petrozavodsk State Glazunov Conservatoire, the Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Karelia.
