The objectives of the Competition

  • to detect and support the most talented young music performers and professional musicians both in Russia and abroad;
  • to contribute to the development and promotion of chamber ensemble and accompaniment disciplines;
  • to develop academic exchange between pedagogues of chamber ensemble and accompaniment from different countries.

Terms of the Competition

The Competition is open to participants from 12 years old and above, with no upper age limit. 

The Competition is held in online and in-person formats. Video auditions will be held on the 27th and the 28th February 2023. In-person auditions will be held from the 1st to the 3rd March 2023.  

The Competition is open in the following sections:

  • The Art of Accompaniment 
  • Chamber Ensemble / Students and Accompanists (excluding Junior Age Group)

 

Age categories

  • Age Category A / Junior Age Group   –  from 12 to 14 years old  
  • Age Category B –  from 15 to 17 years old  
  • Age Category C – rom 18 to 20 years old  
  • Age Category D – rom 21 to 23 years old  
  • Age Category E – rom 24 to 27 years old  
  • Age Category F – from 28 years and above   

Age category is defined by the number of full years of the most junior member of the ensemble as of February 27th, 2023 

Program requirements 

In Age Categories A / Junior Age Group  participants perform two compositions of diverse nature and different styles (vocal or instrumental) by Russian or European composers with a total duration of 8 minutes or less.  

In Age category B, section Art of Accompaniment, participants perform a classic aria and a romance by Russian or European composers with a total duration of 10 minutes. 

In Age category B, section Chamber Ensemble, participants perform a sonata allegro by a composer of the Classical period (Haydn, Mozart, Stamitz or  Beethoven) and  a chamber music composition by a composer of the 19th- 20thcenturies with a total duration of 12 minutes.

In age category C, section Art of Accompaniment, participants perform a classic aria and two romances by Russian or European composers with a total duration of 15 minutes.  

In Age category C, section Chamber Ensemble, participants perform a sonata allegro by a Classical period composer (Haydn, Mozart, Stamitz or Beethoven) and a chamber music composition by a composer of the 19th- 20th centuries with a total duration of 15 minutes.

In age category D, section Art of Accompaniment, participants perform a classic aria and two romances by Russian or European composers with a total duration of 15 minutes. 

In Age category D, section Chamber Ensemble, participants perform a sonata allegro by a composer of the Classical period and a chamber music composition by a composer of the 19th- 20th centuries with a total duration of 20 minutes.

In age category E, section Art of Accompaniment, participants perform a classic aria and three romances (or a cycle of romances or songs) by Russian or European composers with a total duration up to 20 minutes.  

In Age category E, section Chamber Ensemble, participants perform 

  • a composition by a Classical period composer   
  • a composition by a Romantic period composer
  • a composition by a composer of the 19th- 20th centuries 

with a total duration of not less than 20.

In age category F, section Art of Accompaniment, participants perform a classic aria and two romances (or a cycle of romances or songs) by Russian or European composers with a total duration up to 25 minutes.  

In Age category F, section Chamber Ensemble, participants perform 

  • a composition by a Classical period composer   
  • a composition by a Romantic period composer
  • a composition by a composer of the 19th- 20th centuries 

with a total duration up to 25 minutes.

 

A program is performed from sheet music. In some cases, sheet music may be requested by the Organizing Committee. 

Awards and the Jury 

The Jury of the Competition is formed from teachers and performers of the Petrozavodsk State Glazunov Conservatoire. 

The Gran-Prix Diploma of the Competition 

Laureate Diploma of the  1st , 2nd  and 3rd Degree of the Competition 

Certificate of a Participant of the Competition 

Certificate of Appreciation to teachers of laureates of the Competition 

Decisions of the jury are final and are not subject to review.  The Jury has the right not to award all the prizes and to award special prizes. 

How to apply 

To apply for the Competition participants must submit 

  • Application form with an attachment on processing the personal data 
  • A high resolution photo of the participants  
  • A copy of the birth certificate or passport of each member 
  • A shareable URL link to video recordings uploaded to YouTube, Google or Yandex Disk as a single file with a program performed with no breaks – for the online participation

Application fee

Once the application is registered participants are provided with an individual contract template based on which the application fee may be paid. The application fee is to be paid to the conservatory bank account (the procedure is to be specified for international applicants closer to the event). A copy of the payment order and a copy the signed individual contract are to be sent to the Organizing Committee before February 1, 2023.

Age Category A - 1000 rubles per person; 

Age Category B, C, D - 1500 rubles per person;

Age Category E, F - 2000 rubles per person. 

Should an accompanist decide to participate in the Competition the application fee is charged according to the appropriate age category. 

Should an applicant refuse to participate in the Contest, no documents or the participation fee are returned or refunded except for an acceptable excuse supported by documentary proof. 

Organizing Committee

The Organizing Committee is formed and headed by the rector of the Petrozavodsk State Glazunov Conservatoire and the head of the Department Chamber Ensemble and Piano Accompaniment.  It is comprised of the appropriate teaching and administrative staff of the Petrozavodsk State Glazunov Conservatoire. 

The Organizing Committee is responsible for holding the Competition according to the Regulations and informing participants about the results of the contest via the official website of the Petrozavodsk State Glazunov Conservatoire. All changes and additions to the Regulations shall enter into force on the date of their approval by the Organization committee. All disputes that may arise in connection with the holding of the Competition and its results or arising from these Regulations, shall be resolved through negotiations. 

The Organizing committee possesses the exclusive right to photo-, audio- and video materials of the events of the Competition, as well as to record, distribute and broadcast them in the mass media to cover and popularize the Competition. The transfer (alienation) of the exclusive right to the materials specified in this clause of the Regulation to the Organization committee is a mandatory condition for allowing the Organization Committee to allow third parties to take photographs or videos, to record the events of the Competition, and without remuneration to the authors or other right holders of such materials (free of charge). The subsequent use of these materials is carried out by the Organizing Committee, indicating the authorship.
