The objectives of the Competition:
Terms of the Competition
Clarinet performers under 35 years old are invited to participate in the Competition
The Competition is held in five age groups:
Age category of a participant is defined by the number of full years as of November 16th, 2021.
The contest held in the age groups I, II, III and IV consists of two rounds. In the age group V the contest consists of three rounds.
Every composition of the Contest program in every age group shall be performed from memory.
The participant’s order of performance is defined by the Organizing Committee.
Program requirements
2021 “Weber Clarinet” competition is devoted to
Music compositions performed in different rounds should not be repeated.
Group I - up to 11 years old
Round I
1. a composition for clarinet solo (arrangements and etudes are accepted)
2. a composition by C.M. von Weber (arrangements are accepted)
Total duration of the program is not more than 10 minutes.
Round II
Two compositions for clarinet and piano including one by W. А. Mozart (arrangements are accepted). Total duration of the program is not more than 10 minutes.
Group II – up to 13 years old
Round I
1. a composition for clarinet solo (arrangements and etudes are accepted)
2. a composition by C.M. von Weber (arrangements are accepted)
Total duration of the program is not more than 12 minutes.
Round II
Two compositions for clarinet and piano including one by W. А. Mozart (arrangements are accepted). Total duration of the program is not more than 12 minutes.
Group III – up to 15 years old
Round I
1. a composition for clarinet solo (arrangements and etudes are accepted)
2. a composition by W. А. Mozart (arrangements are accepted)
Total duration of the program is not more than 15 minutes.
Round II
C.M. von Weber Concertino for clarinet and orchestra, Op. 26 (arr. for clarinet and piano)
Group IV – up to 20 years old
Round I
1. a composition for clarinet solo (arrangements and etudes are accepted)
2. a composition by W. А. Mozart (arrangements are accepted)
Total duration of the program is not more than 18 minutes.
Round II
C.M. von Weber Concerto No.1 f-moll for clarinet and orchestra, Op.73 (arr. for clarinet and piano)
Group V – up to 35 years old
Round I
1. a composition for clarinet solo (arrangements are accepted)
2. a composition at the performer's discretion - Part I from any concerto for clarinet and orchestra (arr. For clarinet and piano) by J. Vanhal, A. Dimler, L. Koželuh, F. Kramář, Karl Stamitz, Jan Stamitz, F.A. Hoffmeister.
Round II
1. a composition for clarinet and piano by a composer of the 20 – 21 centuries.
2. C.M. von Weber Grand Duo Concertant for clarinet and piano, Op. 48, Part II and Part III
Round III
W. А. Mozart. Quintet KV581 A-dur for clarinet, two violins, viola and cello.
Exposition should be repeated in the 1st movement. Exposition should not be repeated in the 2nd movement.
To be performed with a string quartet of the Karelian State Philharmonic (sheet music can be used).
International Jury
A panel of qualified jury members who represent higher education institutions in Russia, Finland, Czech Republic, and Belgium will evaluate performances according to the 25-point scale.
Decisions of the jury are final and are not subject to review. The Jury has the right not to award all the prizes and to award special prizes.
Awards
The Gran-Prix (25 points by all jury members)
The 1st Degree Diploma (24 – 25 points)
The 2nd Degree Diploma (less than 24 points)
The 3rd Degree Diploma (less than 22 points)
Certificate (less than 20 points)
The laureates of the Competition are obliged to perform in the gala performance free of charge.

Application deadline
The application package must be sent before October 1, 2021 by e-mail to Petrozavodsk State Glazunov Conservatoire.
Application fee
The application fee in age groups I, II, III and IV is 2000 rubles and in the age group V is 4000 rubles to be paid to the conservatoire bank account before November 1, 2021 and a copy of the payment order to be sent to the Organizing Committee (the procedure is to be specified for international applicants closer to the event). Should an applicant refuse to participate in the Competition, no documents or the participation fee are returned or refunded.
Traveling, board and lodging expenses for participants, accompanists, teachers and other escorting persons shall be borne by the participants or delegating organizations.
