The concert invites to an exciting music journey. The audience awaits to listen to various pieces of music from full of drama and masterly composed guitar concert by Villa-Lobos and lyric Nightsongs by Richard Peaslee. The Norwegian part of the programme presents unfamiliar in Russia music of Geirr Tveitt. His suite “Wedding tunes” (A Hundred Folktunes from Hardanger) was inspired by folk melodies from the western part of Norway. Albeit the composer put to use some ideas from his stay in Paris during the 50ties of the last century. An interesting fact is that Geirr Tveitt was a student of Villa-Lobos and it could not affect his own composer’s style.
Wedding tunes. Suite no.4 op.151 (A Hundred Folktunes from Hardanger no.46-60) is a work with tragic destiny. The original score was not published and was kept in the composer’s estate. The building was constructed of wood and burnt in the fire in year 1970, the suite’s score and other compositions were lost. Although it’s well known that the manuscripts do not burn. A few years ago the score was restored by a composer and conductor Bjärte Engeset.
The unique performance of the rescued suite takes place in Russia on September 27th, 2013. It is an extraordinary and thrilling event not only for music lovers but specialists and researchers as well.
