On October 28, 2022 the Student Symphony Orchestra of the Petrozavodsk State Glazunov Conservatoire under the direction of conductor Aleksei Kubyshkin, the rector of the Petrozavodsk Conservatoire, performed works by Alexander Glazunov at the annual Glazunov Day.
The Student Symphony Orchestra presented Cortege Solennel in G Major, Violin Concerto in A minor, Chant du Ménestrel for cello and orchestra, Carnaval overture for orchestra and organ in F major and other famous pieces by the great Russian composer.
The concert, celebrating the 55th anniversary of the Petrozavodsk State Glazunov Conservatoire, became a fabulous event that united students and teachers of the Petrozavodsk Conservatoire as well as the honored guests, the rectors of partner music institutions such as Saint Petersburg Conservatory, Gnesin Russian Academy of Music, Belarusian State Academy of Music, Kazan State Conservatoire, Nizhny Novgorod State Conservatory, Novosibirsk State Conservatory, Astrakhan State Conservatory, Urals Mussorgsky State Conservatoire and other music education institutions in Northwest Russia.
The week before the anniversary event in Petrozavodsk the Student Symphony Orchestra led by Aleksei Kubyshin made its debut at the Saint Petersburg State Academic Capella in the International Conservatory Week Festival 2022 devoted to the 160th anniversary of the Saint-Petersburg State Conservatory. The rector of Saint Petersburg Conservatory Alexei Vasiliev soon paid the visit back to the Petrozavodsk Conservatoire performing the cello solo in Chant du Ménestrel for cello and orchestra by Alexander Glazunov.
The Petrozavodsk State Glazunov Conservatoire was founded in 1967 as a branch of the Saint Petersburg Conservatory and became an independent higher education institution in 1991. In 2013 it was named after the Russian composer Alexander Glazunov, former director of the Saint-Petersburg Conservatory named after N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov.
The local television company SAMPO TV 360º released a story about the celebration of the 55th anniversary of the Petrozavodsk Stata Glazunov Conservatoire.
